GOLD IN ART

During his stay in California between 1986 and 1987, Ali Adeli delved into the world of Art Deco when he received a prestigious commission to create 50 limited edition pieces for a gallery in Los Angeles.

As part of this project, he created a series of innovative paintings designed to serve as doors for a buffet cabinet. Each piece stands out through the use of cutting-edge techniques, such as giclée lacquer painting, which provides a smooth and glossy finish, along with the application of gold leaf, adding a precious and radiant touch to his compositions.

To further enrich his works, he incorporated eggshells, which, when placed on faded white surfaces, created a unique texture, adding both a tactile and visual dimension to his pieces. This blend of materials and techniques generated a subtle interaction between the brilliance of gold and the softness of the hues, giving each painting a distinct aura.

The stock market crash of 1987 deprived him of a monumental contract just as he was about to finalize a prestigious interior design project for a Californian client, who was deeply involved in the stock market. This major disappointment led him to reassess his priorities and return to Switzerland. He chose to settle in Fribourg with his family, a place that offered him a sense of harmony and peace.

It was in this city that he decided to open his own gallery and studio, located near the majestic cathedral he revered.

In this creative space, he continued his artistic work, enriching his pieces with new inspiration drawn from his experience with the Art Deco series he created for his last American client. He then developed a new series of paintings centered around the theme of human figures, once again using gold leaf and eggshells to give birth to compositions of great originality.

These creations quickly attracted attention and led to several commissions, expanding his client base and solidifying his reputation.

During this period, Ali Adeli explored an innovative approach by experimenting with a plaster bas-relief, which he meticulously carved before covering it with gold leaf.

This sculptural work, blending technique and sensitivity, gave birth to a texture that was both refined and striking. However, it was when he applied delicate acrylic paint over the golden base that the piece truly came to life. The subtle contrast between the bright light of the gold and the fluid transparency of the colors created a captivating depth, where each shade seemed to merge into the next, balancing opacity and clarity.

To perfect this creation, Ali Adeli applied a finishing varnish, which not only protected the work but also enhanced its brilliance, giving it an even more luminous dimension. The result is a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity, a piece that embodies the meeting of classical art and contemporary innovation.

Continuing his artistic quest, Ali Adeli delved deeper into the timeless theme of man and woman through new works. He refined his approach by employing the same innovative techniques that had marked his previous creations, including the use of gold leaf, acrylic paint, and materials like eggshells. Each painting became a dialogue between human forms and visual subtleties, offering a poetic and visually striking representation of human identity and emotions.

His work, increasingly refined, found its audience through various exhibitions in Switzerland. Notably, he participated for two consecutive years in Neuch'Art, a renowned exhibition in Neuchâtel, between 1988 and 1989, where his creations caught the attention of art connoisseurs and enthusiasts. He also exhibited at the Salon de l'Habitat in Lausanne, an event that allowed him to present his works to a wider public.

After launching his "Adeli Création" line, focused on innovative geometric shapes, Ali Adeli continued to nurture his art and explore new avenues.

From time to time, he returned to his golden paintings, this time reinterpreting his works from a more contemporary perspective.

He created powerful and poetic pieces, such as one depicting a man and woman exchanging a kiss, a work that captures the intensity of emotion while staying true to his unique visual language.

The use of gold leaf, with its unmistakable brilliance, combines here with a modern composition, adding a new depth and richness to the artwork.

Ali Adeli continues his exploration of the symbolic universe by revisiting the image of the apple and pear, which he had already incorporated into his oil paintings. This time, he reinvents this scene in a new light, adopting a golden style and utilizing the same techniques that have made his previous works so successful.

The fruits, always rich with meaning and symbolism, are accompanied by their trees, creating a visual harmony where nature blends seamlessly with geometry.
